Why Being Well Matters

About Me

Hello, I'm a mother, mentor, business woman, leader, business coach, therapist, Rotarian, yoga teacher, part of the Scout Movement as an Explorer Leader, and Treasurer and joint founder of Hereford City Repair Cafe.  I've created successful businesses, established Boards - I’ve had the privilege to collaborate with, learn from and lead some incredible people and teams to success.  In addition to helping individuals to thrive and transforming businesses, I work in the NHS caring for the carers - supporting them through traumas and shifting them from triggers to glimmers.

Leadership (in both the private and the public sector) can feel like a lonely place......do you feel confident and secure enough to be yourself? to perform at your best? I'll work with you, as a trusted partner using a variety of tools and interventions, to understand your aims and your priorities.

Together, we'll identify a plan and bring it to life. What's in my toolbox?

  • Business coaching including executive and leadership coaching and mentoring (ILM Level 7) - AC Fellow - over 20 years experience of coaching in the private (multi-national) sector and NHS
  • Therapeutic coaching and Trauma therapy including T-CBT Emotional Freedom Technique (PGC Trauma Therapy / Psycho-Traumatology) - working for the NHS supporting Doctors, Dentists and Pharmacists
  • Business start up experience including Board recruitment, engagement and development
  • Due diligence and governance
  • Large scale recruitment and reorganisation, mergers, acquisitions and cultural alignment
  • Organisational / individual mental health risk assessments - First Aid for Mental Health - supervision and workshops - from awareness sessions to train the trainer (accredited by Nuco Training)
  • Personality profiling and development assessments
  • Workshops for leadership, communication skills, confidence, self-compassion, wellbeing, resilience and self-care

And to boost your personal well-being and performance

  • Yoga classes (and 1:1)
  • Mindfulness and meditation (Yogacharini Christine Henderson International Yoga Association Professional Member IYA/2022/YPF465)
  • Clinical Reflexology including Duopody, NeuroEndoPsychoImmunoPody and Calm (for mental health & somatic healing)

You must be able to trust the person you are engaging to help you, to understand your needs and to deliver high quality work, efficiently with return on your investment.

I will assess your needs in discussion with you, and ensure that my advice and delivery is tailored to achieve the best possible result for you. If I am not the right person for the job, I will tell you. No client is too big or too small in needing an expert guide - contact me for an informal chat.

Workplace Wellbeing

Employees have considered wellbeing a key lifestyle factor since Covid.  The pandemic saw people re-evaluating their lives and tipping the balance towards health and wellbeing - people moved from the cities to more rural areas, began working from home, took more control of their working day, homeworking enabling them to fit work expectations around their family and personal needs.

After a while "work-creep" emerged - longer working hours, responding to out-of-hours emails and meetings rather than work fitting around life.

Employers have called people back to the office on a permanent / full time basis.  The lifestyle changes that were afforded through Covid have been revoked and leaving people wondering how to retain them in some way.  The ONS report on Personal Wellbeing in the UK, April 2022 to March 2023 says that ratings of personal wellbeing in the UK declined over the period.  Factors included environmental concerns, cost of living crisis and the perceived burden of moving from home to office working (including increased commuting and childcare costs).

An assessment of mental health risks and a robust wellbeing programme will make you an employer of choice.  You and your leadership team will feel confident supporting neurodivergent individuals. It will also fulfill employer responsibilities from the Health and Safety Executive's perspective.

I deliver Workshops on Self-Compassion, Self-Care and Self Confidence, leadership, team building.  I undertake personality profiling and create development plans.  I will work with you to understand the needs of your business and tailor the sessions to suit.

Employer Responsibilities

The Health and Safety Executive says that employers have a responsibility to support employees with a mental (and / or physical) illness, and consider what workplace support might be helpful.  The considerations can be tricky if the employee is unaware of the factors contributing to mental illness, and therefore the factors that will improve wellbeing / mental wellness. I can work with all parties to help identify those factors and share a road map to success with you.  If you'd like I can also help with the implementation of the road map.

Being Well for Individuals

I support professionals to re-establish their sense of self, define success in their own words and wholeheartedly demonstrate their authenticity to achieve that success.

Using a client-centred approach, we will decide together on the best approach to take, whether that's as a therapeutic coach, a business coach, a yoga teacher or a blend.

As a trauma therapist I can use a variety of specific techniques but follow a triphasic model, beginning with stabilisation.  Once you feel secure we can move on to work on some of the traumas, at times returning to stabilisation but moving forwards little by little.  And you will feel in control, empowered even, as you step into the third phase where you develop the skills to reconnect with joy and positivity.

If you're looking for support with stress and anxiety, I will work with you so we understand your habits, coping strategies, the signs and triggers.  I gently but firmly challenge you to establish and practice new habits and coping strategies to deploy as you notice the signs and triggers.  These become second nature in time, so you feel more calm and resilient.

As a neurodivergent individual you might be noticing shutdowns, meltdowns, confusion, frustration, lack of motivation.  We'll work together to identify whether you're experiencing burnout, perhaps compassion fatigue if you're in the care / health sector.  Once you have an understanding of yourself in your working / home environment, you'll establish an authentic plan including the setting of boundaries and self-advocacy.

Yoga classes, whether 1:1 or group sessions, are suitable for all and focus on relaxing, unwinding, stretching and finding the space to breathe.  Gitananda yoga is a traditional Indian yoga practice based on Patanjali's 8 limbs of yoga.  In a class we largely practice Hatha yoga (Jattis, Asanas and Kriyas) and Pranayama (breathing techniques).  We always finish with relaxation.
